Bingham Model Railway Club

The layout depicts a station on a secondary main line serving a medium-sized town in the midlands in the 1960’s and 70’s. The station has a bay platform for local trains and a parcels bay. There is also a tar works which is still rail-served. If you have any questions at the show, please ask an operator.

Bregstadt is a passing station on a private railway in the Black Forest area of Baden-Wurttemberg, West Germany in the late seventies. The railway sees a passenger service mostly of railbuses while small diesels and an occasional steam loco handle the freight. There is also a heritage “plandampf” steam service

The layout is not based on any real location and is intended to be a narrow gauge line in an industrial setting of old factories, tight curves and short sidings. The tidal backwater inlet is crossed by four bridges with track and three in the backscene, hence the name.

This is a fictitious place in the East Midlands inspired by the Great Central Railway’s Goods Branch to the village of Gotham south of Nottingham.

The Doe Lea branch is a mothballed railway in Derbyshire, connecting Bolsover and Chesterfield to Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. the layout represents rather than copying Doe Lea station and shows how a simple and effective layout can be created in a small space - the scenic area measures 3 feet in length with a storage yard only one foot long. The layout is digitally controlled with uncoupling by magnets and point controlled manually from behind.

The track plan provides for very interesting operation though the prototype location was never clear. Hence, we had to imagine a location and Devon/Dorset was favoured. The name Harbourne is derived from Harborough and Medbourne where we live. The station building is based on Abbotsbury (Dorset); be sure to take a look at its complete interior detail.As a Club we have far more stock than Harbourne needs. You will see a fine selection of kitbuilt, brass and ready-to-run locos and rolling stock.

Hawton Road Branch is a fictional preserved line and is my first attempt at building a layout. I have lots of locomotives from every era and region, so it gives me a chance to use them all. After all, my layout is all about having fun.

A micro-layout of a dockside/wharf area “somewhere in England” in the 1980s. It was built relatively cheaply and quickly as a “fun” shunting layout. Points are hand operated using under-board rodding. The name comes from a former exhibition micro-layout that Matt’s father, Tim, built around twenty years ago.

Based very, very loosely on Rugeley Trent Valley with its power station, 4 x mainline tracks, a branch line to the power station, industrial area, a country station with pedestrian over-bridge and nearby houses. Both DCC and DC. It is a 4mm tail chaser, 4.4m x 2.35m.

Blue Heron depicts a small urban switching yard on a rainy night in the Pacific North-west area of the USA. Visitors are welcome to try the inglenook challenge and switch the cars into the randomly generated order

Parcels platforms based on Victoria Station in Central London handling mainly par-cels and sundries traffic, though the occasional passenger train diverted from a main platform. EM gauge is the same 1:76 as OO but is 1.5mm wider between the rails at 18mm
